Huge blow for Wrexham: Phil Parkinson's side see key man given oxygen and stretchered off for Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney's side against Mansfield

Wrexham were dealt a major injury blow on Sunday as midfielder Andy Cannon had to be given oxygen on the field before being stretchered off the pitch.

  WHAT HAPPENED?

  The Red Dragons star twisted his ankle following a rough challenge from Mansfield's Louis Reed. Cannon appeared to be in immense pain as he went down on the ground in the 36th minute. The Wrexham medics rushed onto the pitch and attended to the player. After a lengthy treatment on the pitch, he was eventually stretchered off with an oxygen mask on. Phil Parkinson introduced Matty James in the 45th minute to replace the injured midfielder.

  THE BIGGER PICTURE

  Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenny's side were gifted a dream start as Callum Macdonald accidentally put the ball into his own net in the second minute of the match. The English full-ball, though, soon made amends for his mistake as he netted the equaliser in the 16th minute. Wrexham, however, had the last laugh as Max Cleworth's strike just before the hour mark sealed crucial three points for his team.
